enjoying the process » loving the journey, not just the destination

Part 2.

My computer seems to be working normally again. Funny how a reboot fixes everything..kinda like a good night’s sleep. Okay- back to it.
We had our Church Christmas concert last Sunday- Keagan’s first one. He just stood up there looking cute, not singing. Sorry about all the weird swirly faces, but I didn’t know how parents would feel about their children’s faces out here for all the world (or all the 10 of you) to see 🙂

Santa comes to our neighborhood every year on this float.. It’s a great “easy” advent calendar item. Cade never goes up to sit on his lap, but all the other kids do.
Keagan’s come a long way since last year… I bet Santa’s happy about that!

Another fun item in our Advent Box was getting hot chocolate at Starbucks and walking through Candy Cane Lane.  The kids thought it was SO great and only broke one thing! Each house has a different verse of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” so they had fun taking turns reading. I’m sorry, it’s really early in the morning & the words aren’t flowing. If these sentences are incoherent or misspelled, I haven’t had any coffee yet.
Oh! Did I mention?  The huge machine in my kitchen that’s supposed to be drying all the moisture from the floors is, in fact, leaking all over my floors? Yep. Woke up to that this morning 🙂 Good times.

Last night’s advent box said we were going to make a gingerbread house ! Now, I’ve wised up (FINALLY!) after ALL these years of making gingerbread houses. Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT buy the ones from Michael’s, Walmart, etc. You know, the Wilton ones?  They’re cute and all, but WAY too hard.  Buy the ones from Trader Joe’s. The icing is simple, it actually works and it doesn’t take 5 hours to make. 20 minutes and you’re done.  Unless, you want to spend that much time making a gingerbread house, feel free 🙂

So that’s the end of my post.  Only 9 more days until Christmas. Are you ready?

Julie Long - Hey girl……I love reading your blog and love looking at your pictures. And I love hearing that someone else’s December isn’t going as they had planned either…not that I want you to be having to re-do your floors and all that…but it’s nice to not be alone. Kinda like loosing info on a computer! 🙂 But, I think you are doing a fabulous job at what’s most important and are such an incredible mama. You’re amazing! I never got my Advent calendar done like I had planned. And there’s 9 days til Christmas and I’ve done no.shopping.yet. I repeat none. Ugh. OH yeah, I’ve been meaning to ask you a really, really important question. Will you please come decorate my house??!! I feel like you decorate like what’s in my head, but I never get around to doing or doing well! ha! xoxo and Merry Christmas! 🙂

Sara - I ordered 6 gingerbread houses from amazon for Stella’s party. I took them out of the box, felt how heavy they were and I said to each little 8 year old girl when they left the house, “have fun making your gingerbread house, thanks for coming!” yep, noooooot going to tackle that during the party; too much stress for this mom. 🙂 Duuuude, sorry about the floor. That is no bueno. I hope it gets fixed speedily and inexpensively. 🙂 Oh and what a sweet tribute to a cute, cute Beppe. So sweet. xx

jenny - So, Keagan looks completely adorable in that choir picture. Is he for sale, or is he for display only?

Andrea Cervantes - I have been absent from all blogs for so long and had so much fun catching up on yours right now! Will you adopt me? I need to know about this advent box. Too late this year, but love the idea for next year. We have that same fun tradition of walking along that same street with hot cocoa. The kids look so forward to it! 🙂 I’m sure the floors weren’t in your advent box…but, life brings lots of fun surprises! Glad you are just “going with it” …..what else can you do, right?
